SurCode MLP Encoder
for DVD-Audio

MLP, Meridian Lossless
Packing, is an encoding
system designed to losslessly
compress high resolution audio
for
100% accurate, bit for bit
recovery of the encoded data
on playback. Unlike “perceptual”
or lossy
data reduction systems, such
as Dolby Digital and DTS,
MLP guarantees not to alter
the
souce file in any way.
Why encode with
SurCode MLP?
MLP
has two main benefits:
It minimizes the
size of the compressed file,
allowing
a
larger amount of audio
to be stored on a DVD-A disc.
It will reduce
the maximum instantaneous peak
data
rate. This is needed
to pack the
13.82 Mbps data rate
of six channels of 24 bit/96
kHz PCM surround audio
into the far smaller
9.6 Mbps limitation of
the DVD standard.
ReBit
ReBit is an exclusive
feature only found in SurCode's
MLP encoder, enables
users, in
extreme cases, to
avoid the necessity of re–mastering
their material in
order
to
successfully pass
it through the MLP encoding
process.
